10:33 PM: Habs win the shootout - took 6 shooters each though...Maxim Lapierre had the winner - Canes still search for answers...they are tied in points with Toronto now...how, I'm still not sure...

And they want to get rid of the extra point for OT losses??  Toronto and Carolina would both have less than 10 points on the season...

Colorado is up 1-0 on Calgary in the 2nd - Ryan Wilson, the Toronto St. Mike's Major and Sarnia Sting graduate, has his first NHL goal - Edmonton has the Avs tomorrow night...

--------------------

10:19 PM: Sens won their game thanks to great goaltending from Pascal Leclaire (haven`t heard that too much this year); Habs tied their game - "Prolongation" solved nothing, we're in the shootout in MTL...

Manny Legace is in goal for the Canes, Price for the Habs - apparently Michael Leighton left this game with an undisclosed injury...

--------------------

9:19 PM: Nik Hagman put the Leafs up 2-1, but then a power play goal by Milan Michalek, and Mike Fisher's 2nd of the night has the Sens up 3-2 after 2...

Around the league - Ovi has his 15th of the year in his first game back from an injury that forced him to miss five games...the Caps didn't seem to miss a beat, though...and they're up 3-2 on the Rangers at MSG with about 4 minutes left in the 3rd...

Carolina is up 2-1 after 2 in Montreal - this will be just their 4th win of the year if they can hang on...

And the San Jose Sharks are down 4-1...to Nashville...in the 2nd...

--------------------

8:31 PM: I still can't believe that Edmonton made it to Scotiabank Place before the Leafs did...but nevertheless - it's 1-1 after the 1st intermission - Mike Fisher for Ottawa, Phil Kessel for Toronto...it's been a good one so far...Toronto should be way better in the standings, but, well...you know...

Toronto is not back here until March 6, then again on March 16...the Senators visit Air Canada Centre twice more - on December 14th and February 6, just before the Olympics...

Got an awesome e-mail yesterday from my Uncle John who lives in Victoria - the subject line read "Free Beer - How Cruel Can You Be?"...attached was a picture of a sign located outside of some pub somewhere - on the sign, it says "Free Beer during all Maple Leafs Playoff games"...I wonder how many seconds it will take the owner of that bar to take the sign down if the Leafs turn it around...operative word - if.....

Jarkko Ruutu and John Mitchell just had a nice tilt...about the 3rd fight in the game so far...

Luke Schenn has a target on his back today...he'll have a few bruises after this one...not to mention a good shiner...

5:55 PM: Well, I guess it's probably about time I update the blog...

Couple of interesting notes today - last night it was revealed to the world that Craig Simpson along with Olympic Gold medal figure skater Jamie Sale are the co-winners of "Battle Of The Blades"...as much as they were hyping it on HNIC, is it any wonder?  I didn't watch a single episode but somehow knew they would win...

Runner up was Claude Lemieux and Shae-Lynn Bourne...

And, today it's official - Brendan Shanahan is hanging them up - after 21 seasons, no real surprise there...

I will update more as we move through the month...keep checking back as you never know when I'll explode and rant on about nothing...

In the meantime - enjoy my tweets...and if you have a Wii - I command you, if you haven't already done so, go get the new Super Mario Bros. Wii, right now...run, don't walk!!  Trust me, you'll want to play this game now!  My tweet from Sunday was not an overstatement - after all these years, Nintendo can still get it done...

Also interesting to see Artie Lange is out this week with a new Comedy album - "Jack & Coke"...if you listen to Howard Stern at all you'll know the guy is literally a mess, but extremely funny in his own way...on this follow up to "It's The Whiskey Talkin'", Artie takes on subjects like the New England Patriots (or Tom Brady in particular), A-Rod, the Swine flu, among other things...parental advisory, explicit lyrics...yada yada yada...

Getting back to hockey, I thought I saw on a ticker somewhere yesterday that Peter Forsberg is staying with MoDo...but I might have been dreaming too...good decision if you ask me...I know a few teams were kicking the tires, but the only team it was reported that he was interested in returning to was Colorado - and quite frankly, they don't need him!
